Bluntly pointing out the unfortunate similarities between Venus Williams and 19-year-old Coco Gauff, an American tennis legend.

The 42-year-old tennis professional, Venus Williams, has conquered every milestone in course of her tennis circuit for over two decades. The seven-time Grand Slam champion has been demonstrating her passion for the sport. Despite her age, she is still dauntlessly marking the victory. Recognized as one of the best defenders in the women’s game, Coco Gauff is also leaving no chance for the opponents to symbolize victory on her side. And, there is no doubt that there are similarities between both tennis players and a former American player has stated one of such unfortunate likenesses.

In the Spotify Podcast of the 33rd episode of ‘Baseline Intelligence with Jonathan Stokee’ titled, “Lindsey Davenport: The mindset of a hall of fame”, a former American player happened to broadcast the fragility of Venus and Gauff. In between the episode, when Lindsey was asked about her accurate analysis of opponents during the matches, she took two names having a similar weak point that led her to find it very easily and mark the sets.

She commented, “It was easier in the early days to kind of find a weakness in Venus’s game. Forehand.. when she first came up was not the shot it was. That’s when her career was launched. She had much more doubt on that side. A little bit like Gauff not quite as extreme, but you know… you see Gauff and the backhand so natural and the forehand not quite as natural. That’s how it was with Venus.”

However, she also shed the light on her strenuous experience playing against Serena Williams. But, Serena is a legend for a reason. It was a hardship for Lindsey to crack codes of Serena, especially during the time of the serve. The process of finding loopholes in Serena made Lindsey worried.

She continued saying, “And then I got to play with Serena and I just looked at my coach like, Really? Where’s my safe spot to go? That when she sometimes… she makes some errors or whatever it was, I’m talking about the late 90s and early 2000s. But that was like, if I play my best against these guys, I’m not guaranteed well.”

Historical match of Venus Williams against Lindsey DavenportIn the 2005 Wimbledon Championships, Williams and Lindsey were seen toe-to-toe in the final. Venus defeated Lindsey in the final 4-6,7-6, 9-7 and marked the lady’s singles tennis title. It was her third Wimbledon singles title and fifth major singles. It was the longest Wimbledon women’s final in history.
